Cosmetic Surgery Specials
Does anyone know of any dentists in the DFW area that take on special cases as Pro Bono?
I am 25 and was born without 13 teeth. I started going to the Orthodontist when I was in the first grade (1990). Not only did my permantent teeth not come in, some of the ones that did are mis-shapen. I do have partials now and have had them since I got my braces off in 1999, but now they are 10 years old and keep breaking. I need to have dental implants, but with my case, that’s $1000-$5000/tooth multiplied by 13. I will never be able to afford to have it fixed. A perfect smile is something that I’ve always wanted and can’t have. It makes me angry that even though this is a birth defect, it’s not covered by insurance since it is considered to be “Cosmetic” surgery. I have heard that some dentists treat “special cases” such as mine, that is why I am asking. Hopefully someone will see this and be able to help me. Thank you!
I would call a dental school (call universities and ask if they have one) in your area. A lot of times they will work on people for little to no money. It will be a supervised student and they don’t put students on the floor until late in their training. It’s definitely worth a shot and it sounds like you’re a good canditate.
