Muslim Brothers & sisters: Is Liposuction or Gastric Bypass Haram?

I understand that in Islam, cosmetic surgery isn’t permissible, but by not being permissible, does that mean it’s haram or just not liked? I know we should all be happy with the way Allah (SWT) created us, but weight isn’t something definite… it changes, so does weight loss surgery apply to that? What if you’re doing it for yourself, to make yourself feel better, not to show off or to aid you in any haram doings?

And please only answer if you truly know. Islam isn’t a matter of opinion… in this case. =]
And no I’m not grossly overweight… maybe about 20-25lbs. You can’t necessarily tell all that much, but I can.

Why worry what some set of mythological beliefs says! BTW: Don’t do either because they are extreme ways of dealing with a simple problem: go on a diet and start exercising.
